Telangana Power Generation Corporation Limited (TPGCL) has commissioned the 600 MW Stage II Kakatiya coal-based plant at Warangal. The first 500 MW unit of the plant was commissioned in 2010. Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited was the principal contractor for the power plant. Notably, this is the first thermal unit commissioned following the formation of the state in June 2014.
