The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change’s (MoEFCC) Expert Appraisal Committee has accorded approval for the setting up of the 624 MW Kiru hydroelectric project (HEP) on the Chenab river at Kishtwar, Jammu & Kashmir. The project, comprising four units of 156 MW each, will have a construction period of 54 months and entail an investment of Rs 46.41 billion. The project will be developed by Chenab Valley Power Projects Private Limited, a joint venture between NHPC Limited, JKPDD and PTC India Limited.
