Bengaluru airport begins Phase II expansion work

The second phase of expansion work at the Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, has commenced and is estimated to cost Rs 40 billion. This expansion includes the construction of a second terminal (T2) and a parallel runway. The levelling works began in February 2016 and will go on for another 12 months. T2 will be constructed in two phases. The architectural design for the terminal, being prepared by American firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, will be finalised by August 2016 and construction is expected to commence by January 2017.
