JSW Infrastructure and South West Port won mechanisation contract at Paradip port

The consortium of JSW Infrastructure Limited and South West Port Limited has won the contract for mechanisation of the Eastern Quay (EQ)-1, EQ-2 and EQ-3 berths at the Paradip port. The project will be executed on a build-operate-transfer basis in the public-private partnership (PPP) mode. The project will increase the coal handling capacity from the existing 7.85 million tonnes (mt) to 30 mt at an investment of Rs 14.38 billion. The project envisages the complete mechanisation of the three berths including transporting thermal coal through a track- hopper conveying system to the stack yard and shipment of coal through a ship loader using conveyors.
