Gangavaram Port commissions four new berths

Gangavaram Port Limited has commissioned four new berths at the port, increasing its cargo handling capacity to 64 million tonnes. The expansion project has been undertaken by the D.V.S. Raju-led consortium (comprising VisualSoft Technologies Limited, the Dubai Port Authority, West Port Holdings of Malaysia and the Singapore-based Jurong Consultants) at an estimated cost of Rs 13 billion. The expansion project includes an additional fully mechanised coal terminal, rail sidings, ancillary civil works, stockyards and facilities to handle multipurpose cargo and Panamax vessels with a capacity of 2,00,000 deadweight tonnage.
