The Jind-Sonepat new railway line project was commissioned on June 26, 2016 after a maiden train was flagged off on the line. Safety inspection of the project was conducted in January 2016. The project involved the laying of an 88.9 km new rail line from Sonepat to Jind via Gohana in Haryana at an investment of Rs 7.4 billion. The project comprises 13 railway stations, two road overbridges, 34 road underbridges and 40 manned level crossings. The project was implemented by IR and the Haryana government on a 50:50 cost-sharing basis.
