Odisha’s state-level green panel has accorded Stage I forest clearance to Orissa Integrated Power Limited (OIPL) for setting up the 4,000 MW Sundargarh UMPP at Bedabahal. The panel has accorded approval for diverting 17.02 hectares of forest land for the UMPP. The project entails an aggregate cost of Rs 290 billion and requires 1,302.36 hectares of land. In a separate development, the MoP has submitted the new bidding document for domestic coal-based UMPPs to the Union cabinet.
