NHAI signs MoU with IIT Kharagpur for Investigations on Panelled Cement Concrete Pavements for Highways

NHAI has signed an MoU with IIT Kharagpur for a research project on Laboratory and Field Investigations on Panelled Cement Concrete Pavements for Highways. NHAI has paid Rs 12.5 million for the three-year project. This is in line with the MoRTH’s recently announced vision of using concrete pavements for major highway construction due to their longevity and maintenance-free life. NHAI, in collaboration with IIT Kharagpur, will promote the development of a technology to construct panelled cement concrete (pre-fabricated in a small size) to replace the existing cement concrete roads.
