The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) in Maharashtra is planning to set up a waste-to-energy facility at the Deonar landfill under the Greater Mumbai Solid Waste Management Project. For this purpose, Tata Consultancy Services, the consultant for the project, has identified 12 hectares of land near Baba Nagar and Shastri Nagar for setting up the plant. Earlier, in June 2016, MCGM conducted a pre-bid invitation meeting of 12 interested companies for discussing various technologies (mass incineration, biomethanation, composting, etc.) which could be used for developing the project.
