As managing director and founding director of PNC Infratech Limited, Yogesh Kumar Jain, has a vast array of responsibilities. He heads the end-to-end business development, contract administration and project implementation activities of the company. At present, PNC Infratech has construction projects worth over Rs 100 billion apart from a fund-based portfolio of seven operational build-operate transfer assets with an aggregate value of over Rs 40 billion.
In addition to his current role, Jain is vice-president of the National Highway Builders Federation, and member of the FICCI National Committee on Infrastructure and the Institute of Engineers, Kolkata.
With a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Bangalore University, Jain has over 23 years of experience in business strategy, planning, investment, bidding, development, procurement, execution, operation and management of infrastructure projects across sectors including the development of highways, bridges, flyovers, airport runways, industrial areas and track construction for rail freight corridors.
Further, he has extensive experience in techno-contractual matters related to infrastructure projects. Under his leadership and guidance, the project execution team of PNC Infratech has successfully executed several major projects within both stipulated time and cost. Jain’s project execution capabilities helped the company achieve ahead-of-schedule completion of three major projects, a very rare accomplishment in the infrastructure sector.
On the outlook for the road sector, Jain asserts, “The current scenario reflects an unprecedented optimism and the big picture is that the government intends to award 25,000 km and construct 15,000 km of roads during 2016-17and 50,000 km of roads entailing investments of about $250 billion over the next six years.” PNC Infratech is geared up to capitalise on the opportunities in the sector. Jain is optimistic of his company’s prospects because its strengths lie in the engineering, procurement and construction segment, an area that the government is emphasising, across Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab.
Compassionate by nature, Jain accords the highest priority to addressing problems faced by his employees, friends and business partners.
