21 new stations to be developed on Konkan route under Railways Modernisation Project

Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) is planning to develop 21 new stations on its route as a part of the railway modernisation programme. The 21 additional stations will take the total number of stations on the route to 87 and reduce the distance between two stations to 8.3 km from 12.75 km at present. Further, a total of 147 km of railway tracks are planned for doubling on the Konkan route, at an estimated cost of

Rs 30 billion. KRCL also plans to take up electrification work on its route, at an estimated cost of Rs 11.1 billion.
