The MoR has launched the final location survey (FLS) for the Bilaspur-Manali-Leh new broad gauge railway line project. The survey is being conducted by RITES Limited and is expected to be completed by March 2019, at an approximate cost of Rs 1.57 billion. The survey work will include the development of corridors with different grades using digital elevation models, with overlays for geological maps, snow and avalanche studies, hydrological and seismic data, selection of the optimum corridor, analysis of the selected corridor and the development of suitable alignment, geological and geophysical investigations, design of bridges, tunnels and viaducts, marking of centre line of alignment on site, and preparation and submission of a DPR.
