Government forms 10-member committee to formulate data protection framework for the country

The government has formed a 10-member committee of experts to formulate a data protection framework for the country. The panel, which is being led by Justice B.N. Srikrishna, has been tasked with making specific suggestions for the protection of data. According to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the panel will identify key issues with respect to data protection in India and recommend ways to tackle them. Further, the committee will also draft a data protection bill.
