The MoR has recently introduced several passenger and freight initiatives. These include launching a new freight structure for double-stack dwarf containers; the signing of agreements under long- term tariff contracts with TIISCO, India Cements and UltraTech Cements; installing escalators and a coach guidance system in Jabalpur; granting a quota of one lower berth in AC-3 coaches for the specially abled and one middle berth for attendants; introducing a new reservation policy for foreign tourists; and launching a new integrated mobile app, Rail Saarthi.
Besides these initiatives, IR has also approved three projects for implementation – the doubling of the Jaunpur-Akbarpur (Tanda) line under Northern Railway; the doubling of the 51.65 km Maynaguri-Gumanihat line under Northeast Frontier Railway; and the construction of the 10.97 km Etawah flyover project under North Central Railway.
