The Tamil Nadu government has proposed the development of a metro rail system in Coimbatore in a bid to address traffic congestion in the city. For this, Chennai Metro Rail Limited has been entrusted the task of preparing a detailed feasibility and project report. The central government is expected to obtain funding for the project from Germany-based KfW Development Bank.
