Foundation stone laid for four STPs in Banaglore

The Karnataka government has laid the foundation stone for the construction of four STPs in Bengaluru. The plants will have a total capacity of 440 mld and will be constructed at the Vrishabhavathi valley, Koramangala and Challaghatta valley, Hebbal and Doddabele areas of the city. BWSSB will be the executing agency for the STP project. A total estimated investment of Rs 12.02 billion is expected to be made for the project, which will take about 10 years to complete from the date of commencement of works. At present, the city generates about 1,440 mld of wastewater, of which only 850 mld is being treated at the existing plants.
