Further relaxations in the RCS

The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has agreed to allow some carriers to fly bigger aircraft under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) as it may be easier to integrate them into routes and overall operations. Besides, the airlines can also make an RCS destination a part of a connecting flight. Further, for the second round of bidding, the MoCA has done away with the stipulation of two airports having to be 150 km apart to qualify for RCS flights. Meanwhile, Jammu &Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep and the north-eastern region have been defined as priority areas for RCS bidding.
