The MoPNG intends to put all petroleum products on its e-commerce platform for sale in order to leverage the benefits of information technology (IT). According to the ministry, there are 0.04 billion consumers as against 0.1 million retail outlets for petroleum products. The MoPNG also plans to use technological advancements in the IT and telecom sector to start online home delivery of diesel and petrol soon. In August 2017, IOCL indicated that it was likely to launch home delivery of diesel within two months. However, oil marketing companies are awaiting clearances from the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation.
