CMRL commences preliminary works to acquire land for Chennai Metro, Phase II

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has commenced preliminary works for acquiring land for the Chennai Metro Rail Project, Phase II, in Tamil Nadu. The authority is currently conducting field surveys to map the land and buildings on the alignment route and is considering the land that may be temporarily required during the construction phase. Besides, CMRL has already initiated talks with the district administrations of Chennai, Kanchipuram and Thiruvallur to oversee the survey and eventual acquisition of land. The authority will start acquiring the land once the detailed project report is approved. The project involves the expansion of the metro rail network in Chennai city. It spans a length of 107.55 km with an investment of Rs 850.47 billion and consists of a total of three corridors.
