DoT is likely to float a tender for rolling out Wi-Fi services in all the village panchayats by 2019, at an outlay of around Rs 37 billion. Under the project, the government plans to start broadband services with about 1 Gbps speeds across 100,000 gram panchayats by end-2017 and the remaining panchayats by 2019.
