The Paradip Port Trust has allowed the handling of iron ore pellets using a mechanised coal handling plant (MCHP). The trial loading of an export shipment of 57,000 tonnes of iron ore pellets commenced at Coal Berth 1 in the MCHP on October 12, 2017 and was completed in 40 hours, as against the 72 hours taken in the case of the manual berth.
