The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) will adopt the international system of counting lane km from 2018-19 onwards. At present, the construction of national highways is being calculated in terms of linear length, which does not truly reflect the amount of work completed, since whether it is a four-lane, six-lane or eight-lane highway, it is considered as one lane.
