Bharti Airtel plans massive network roll out and upgradation in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh

Bharti Airtel has come up with a massive network roll-out plan for Gujarat, under which it aims to add more than 6,000 new sites and deploy an additional 2,000 km of optic fibre cable (OFC) across the state. The roll-out would take the number of Airtel’s mobile sites in Gujarat to 29,000, up by 25 per cent, and expand the operator’s fibre backbone to 13,800 km. It is also planning to expand its network in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh considering that the rural teledensity in these two states is below the national average. As per Bharti Airtel, the company would add 9,500 mobile sites, increasing its coverage by 30 per cent. Overall, the number of Airtel mobile sites would go up to 26,000 by the end of this financial year. The company’s OFC network would go up to 26,000 km adding 4,000 km in the current financial year.
