Eight companies submit bids for MoP’s pilot power procurement scheme

A total of eight companies have submitted bids for the MoP’s pilot scheme for the procurement of 2,500 MW of power from plants that lack power purchase agreements (PPAs). Bids were received for 2,200 MW against the 2,500 MW offered by the government. Sembcorp Energy India Limited, Jaiprakash Associates Limited, IL&FS Engineering and Construction Company Limited and RKM Powergen Private Limited are among the companies that have submitted bids. However, projects of some companies, including GMR Energy Limited, Coastal Energen Private Limited and Lanco Infratech Limited, which do not have assured coal supplies or are pending resolution in the insolvency court, could not participate in the bidding process.
