Goldstone Infratech Limited has undertaken a 15-day trial of an electric bus in Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam cities in Kerala. The trial was undertaken for eight days in Thiruvananthapuram, followed by another seven days in Ernakulam. The low-floor bus is equipped with an air conditioner, global positioning system and CCTVs, and can accommodate 40 seated passengers. The bus has a range of 350 km in a single charge of four hours and a maximum speed of 80 km per hour. The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) plans to deploy around 300 electric buses, subject to the successful completion of the trial.
