Lucknow sewerage project approved

The executive committee of the National Mission for Clean Ganga has approved the Lucknow Sewerage (Interception & Diversion and Sewage Treatment Plant) Project in Uttar Pradesh. The project involves development of sewage treatment plants (STPs) of 39 million litre per day (mld) capacity in Daulatganj and 1 mld in Bairikala areas of Lucknow. It also includes construction of a main pumping station of 39 mld, a sewage pumping station (SPS) at Bairikala, rehabilitation of existing STPs and SPSs with operations and maintenance (O&M) for a period of 15 years. The project is expected to be completed in 24 months at an estimated cost of Rs 2.98 billion. It is being implemented on design-build-operate-transfer basis under the Namami Gange programme.
