The expert appraisal committee (EAC) of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has recommended the grant of environmental clearance and coastal regulation zone clearance (CRZ) for the development of the outer harbour and inner harbour (including the western dock) and mechanisation of the existing operational berths at Paradip port. The objectives of the project is to enhance the cargo handling capacity from 93.6 mt (excluding single-point mooring [SPM]) to 173.6 mt (excluding SPM), reduce pollution by mechanisation of old manually operated berths and to handle Capesize vessels. The project is estimated to entail a cumulative cost of Rs 127.43 billion.
