Foundation stone laid for Belora airport modernisation

The Maharashtra government laid the foundation stone for the Belora airport modernisation project near Amaravati on July 13, 2019. Work under the project involves extension of the runway from the existing length of 1,372 metres to 1,850 metres, construction of additional taxiways, construction of an apron to park two ATR 72/500 aircraft, grading and levelling of the runway strip, and upgradation/expansion of the terminal building to handle the required peak hour capacity, among other ancillary works. The project will be taken up at a cost of Rs 2.02 billion under the Regional Connectivity Scheme.
